REVES is glad to share an article edited by a team from Brussels University (Vrije Universiteit Brussels) on the framework and distinctive features characterising civic spaces in the European Union.
The study is the first production of a project about protecting civic spaces carried out by REVES members Generalitat of Catalunya, City of Torres Vedras, FISE, CSV Lazio, PARSEC and the associated XESS Catalunya, City of Turin and Emerge, with the support of the REVES Secretariat and of the SMIT institute of the Vrije Universiteit Brussels.
In view of the many threats to democracy that the continent is facing, the topic of civic spaces and their promotion and protection as places of participation, engagement and democracy is further gaining momentum.
Consistent with their fundamental principles and objectives, REVES and its members are committed to contribute to an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon, in order to then be able to take solid and grounded action.
