In the end of November 2024 the European Commission published the EU Code of Conduct for Data Management and Sharing in the Social Economy. The document has been created in the framework of a participatory process in which a number of persons and organisations from the social economy field, civil society, the commons were involved.
The Code includes main principles for the sharing and management of data, concrete guidance with a checklist and sectoral templates, as well as a number of good practice examples for data sharing and good data governance

Background : The Social Economy Action Plan included, among the actions foreseen, the development of « a code of conduct on data use and management in the social economy, in cooperation with stakeholders to support the uptake of data and technology”. Also the Transition Pathway for the Proximity and Social Economy made reference to this necessity.
