Project
Social Innovation Community – SIC

Social innovations are essentially new approaches to meeting social needs and addressing societal challenges, across Europe and beyond, as outlined in the Europe 2020 Strategy, the Horizon 2020 Programme and reflected in the global SDGs launched in 2015 by the United Nations.

The aim of the SIC was to create an inclusive ‘network of networks’ of social innovation actors to generate, develop and scale up successful social innovations and to share and spread the best practices of a new SI culture, in order to improve policymaking, cross-sector approaches and transnational collaborations for SI, towards the sustainability of its benefits.

The SIC consortium was made up of a diversity of actors (both practitioners and researchers), all active in the promotion and development of formal and informal social innovation networks.
