On 3 December, alongside the REVES General Assembly, we will officially present the B.RIGHT SPACES Charter, a milestone document developed to strengthen and safeguard civic spaces across Europe.
The Charter is addressed to all actors committed to fostering vibrant, inclusive and resilient civic environments at local and regional levels: Local and Regional Public Institutions, Social and Solidarity Economy organisations, academic institutions, independent research and advisory centres, and a wide range of non-profit organisations.
These stakeholders are the primary defenders of civic spaces. They ensure that communities benefit not only from infrastructure and services, but also from the essential conditions that make civic participation meaningful: trust, social and relational capital, and inclusive shared governance.
This presentation comes at a timely moment, following the release of the EU Strategy for Civil Society, which reinforces the importance of enabling environments where civil society can flourish and actively participate in democratic life.
We look forward to discussing how the Charter can support a collective, multi-level commitment to more robust, open and participatory civic spaces.
